18.01.2017 Lithuanian dairy Vilkyskiu Pienine exports 1st shipment to China

Vilkyskiu Pienine, one of Lithuania's largest dairy companies, has sentthe first shipment of its products to China, becoming the first Lithuaniandairy to export to China the cargo of 20 t of mozzarella should reach theChinese market within about a month, reports LETA/BNS.

"The shipment left onJan. 12. The journey should take about a month. We exported a sea container,which contains about 20 t of mozzarella," told the company's CEO GintarasBertasius.

Last August, China approved16 Lithuanian dairy companies eligible for exporting products to the giantmarket. The Chinese market is vital for Lithuania, which lost a very profitablemarket in the wake of the food product embargo slammed by Russia in August of2014. Lithuanian dairy companies used to export 20-40 percent of their outputto Russia before the embargo.
